HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT

 Russian version

Date of creation of the department: September 1, 1984

In 1984, on the initiative of Professor Elita Aleksandrovna Mukhacheva, a new department was separated from the Department of Higher Mathematics of the Faculty of Economics, called the Department of Computational Mathematics and Cybernetics (VMC). It was organized as a general education department for teaching disciplines related to the use of computer technology, included in the curricula of all specialties of the university, as well as disciplines of the mathematical cycle of the Faculty of Economics.

From 1984 to 1998 the department was headed by the honored worker of science of the Russian Federation, professor, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Mukhacheva Elita Aleksandrovna.

From 1998 to the present, the department is headed by Honored Scientist of the Republic of Belarus, Professor, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Yusupova Nafisa Islamovna.

Since 1988, the department becomes a graduate one and becomes part of the Faculty of Informatics and Robotics.

In 1988, thanks to the initiative of the Department of Computational Mathematics and Cybernetics, a license was obtained to train engineers in the specialty "Software for computer technology and automated systems" and in 1993 the first graduation of software engineers took place, the best of whom continued their studies at the department in graduate school.

In 1994, a license was obtained to train students in the specialty "Mathematical Methods and Operations Research in Economics". In 1999, engineers graduated in this specialty.

Since 1999, the department has been training masters in the field of "Informatics and Computer Engineering" within the specialization "Computer Analysis and Data Interpretation".

In 2000, the specialty "Software and administration of information systems " appeared. The purpose of the specialty was to train professionals in the field of programming mathematical algorithms. In 2005 the first graduation of mathematicians-programmers took place.

During the transition to the standard of the 3rd generation, the department took responsibility for the preparation of bachelors in three areas:

  • 010500 "Software and administration of information systems"
  • 230100 "Software Engineering"
  • 080500 "Business Informatics",

as well as masters in five areas:

  • 010400 "Applied Mathematics and Informatics"
  • 080100 "Economics"
  • 080500 "Business Informatics"
  • 230100 "Informatics and Computer Engineering"
  • 231000 "Software Engineering"

Currently, the department prepares bachelors in the following areas:

  • 02.03.03 "Software and administration of information systems"
  • 09.03.04 "Software Engineering"
  • 38.03.05 "Business Informatics",

as well as masters in the following areas:

  • 02.04.03 "Software and administration of information systems"
  • 09.04.01 "Informatics and Computer Engineering"
  • 09.04.04 "Software Engineering"

Within the framework of training highly qualified personnel, the Department of Computer Science and Technology is responsible for two areas of the training direction 09.06.01 "Informatics and Computer Engineering":

  • Software for computers, complexes and computer networks
  • Mathematical modeling, numerical methods and program complexes

The teachers of the department act as scientific leaders / consultants in the following scientific specialties

  • 05.13.01 "System analysis, management and information processing"
  • 05.13.10 "Management in social and economic systems"
  • 05.13.11 "Software for computers, complexes and computer networks"
  • 05.13.18 "Mathematical modeling, numerical methods and program complexes"

More than 90 graduate students became doctors and candidates of technical, economic, physical and mathematical sciences, of which:
3 doctors of technical sciences, 32 candidates of technical sciences - scientific leader Yusupova N.I., 30 candidates of technical sciences - Mukhacheva E.A., 20 candidates of technical sciences, 15 candidates of economic sciences - Bronstein E.M.

Currently, the department employs 8 doctors of sciences, professors, including: 6 doctors of technical sciences, 2 doctors of physical and mathematical sciences. 32 candidates of sciences, of which: 27 candidates of technical sciences, 5 candidates of physical and mathematical sciences.

The students of the department are actively involved in the scientific work of the department and are constant participants in All-Russian and International scientific conferences. On the basis of the department, a team of students is trained for the International Programming Olympiads.

The department has permanent partnerships with leading foreign universities from Germany, Italy, Austria and others. A number of master's degrees provide an opportunity to obtain double degrees with the University of Trento (Italy).
